HELIX PEC

A handheld pulsed eddy current instrument that screens wall response through coatings and insulation. No surface prep, no bare metal, no couplant, and no shutdown: the line stays in service while it is read.

  • Measures wall response through coatings, insulation and cladding
  • Readings are verified against ultrasonic (UT) checks at set points
  • Every reading is registered to its physical location on the asset model in HELIX Horizon

Honest limits

PEC is footprint-averaged: it responds to ferromagnetic deposits as if they were wall, and does not resolve isolated pitting. PEC values are relative, based on τ, rather than absolute thickness, unless a material reference exists.

Screening, not certification. HELIX screening prioritises where to look next and does not certify to any code scheme. Fitness-for-service remains a regulated engineering assessment carried out by your engineers. Individual technical specifications (HLX-SPC series) are available on request.
