HELIX ECA
A 32-element eddy current array that sweeps a full band in one pass and pins every indication to the exact spot it lives: weld toes, nozzle collars, plate. At walking pace, through paint.
- Screens for surface-breaking and near-surface discontinuities, including weld-toe cracking
- Thirty-two elements cover a full band in a single pass
- Every indication is located and pinned on the 3D model for follow-up
- Validated against engineered cut, void and wrinkle test panels with matching scan heatmaps

HELIX ECA, surface-discontinuity screening
- System
- HELIX ECA-Rev3 (deployed unit ECA-1a)
- Array
- 32 elements, 16 transmit and 16 receive
- Operating frequency
- 150 kHz
- Detects
- Surface-breaking and near-surface discontinuities, for example weld-toe cracking
- Output
- Reports indications. Does not size defects
- Validation
- Engineered cut, void and wrinkle test panels with matching scan heatmaps
- Reference frameworks
- ISO 15548-1/-2/-3, ISO 20339:2017, ASTM E3052-21, ISO 17643:2015 (reference only)
Honest limits
ECA reads the surface and near-surface only, and reports indications rather than sizing them.

Screening, not certification. HELIX screening prioritises where to look next and does not certify to any code scheme. Fitness-for-service remains a regulated engineering assessment carried out by your engineers. Individual technical specifications (HLX-SPC series) are available on request.
